Active Lives Helps Tina Improve Her Health, Fitness and Mental Wellbeing

Published: 1 October 2026

When Tina joined the Active Lives programme, she wasn’t sure what to expect. She wanted to challenge herself, improve her health and find out whether regular exercise could fit into her busy life.

At the time, Tina described her health and fitness as poor. Like many people, family commitments often came first, making it difficult to focus on her own wellbeing. However, after committing to the 12-week programme and working closely with her coach, Holly, Tina noticed positive changes, not only physically but mentally too.

Speaking about her experience, Tina said:

“I wanted to get involved to see if I could do it and see if it would make a difference for my overall health. Before starting the programme, my health and fitness was poor but since completing the programme it has hugely improved.”

Throughout the programme, Tina found reassurance in having regular support and guidance. The consultations helped her track her progress, while spending time at the centre became something she genuinely looked forward to.

“I have really enjoyed the gym, and Holly’s input was important. She was professional and caring, gave good advice and was informative. Having our consultations allowed me to see my improvements and not just guess them. I have also enjoyed meeting friends in the coffee shop and everyone at the centre has always been welcoming and friendly.”

As the weeks went on, Tina realised that the benefits extended far beyond improving her fitness levels. Being active became an important part of maintaining her mental wellbeing and helping her feel more positive day to day.

“The realisation that I can make a difference to my own body and increase my mental health in a very positive way. When I come out of the gym it’s like I have a bit of a bounce in my step. I generally feel like a better person. When I didn’t come for a week or so, I could feel the difference in my mental health.”

The programme also gave Tina confidence that she could make lasting changes, even while balancing the demands of family life.

“I am genuinely grateful for the opportunity to have tried out the gym to see how it would fit into my lifestyle. I didn’t realise it would make such a difference, but it does and it’s become very important to me.”

Tina’s coach, Holly, praised her commitment and determination throughout the programme.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Tina. She has had such a positive outlook throughout her fitness journey despite past struggles. Tina worked hard at following her programme, enabling her to lose weight and increase strength. She has been consistent throughout the programme and has continued to keep active in the gym after completing her 12-week course.”

Tina’s journey shows that small, consistent changes can have a significant impact on both physical and mental wellbeing. What began as an opportunity to try something new has become an important part of her lifestyle, helping her feel healthier, stronger and more confident in managing her own wellbeing.
