After undergoing two major operations within three months, Sidney, Wilmslow resident, found himself experiencing severe muscle weakness, poor balance and a significant loss of confidence. Concerned about the risk of falling, he was referred to the One You Cheshire East, Stand Strong programme by his physiotherapist at Knutsford Hospital – a recommendation that marked the beginning of a transformative health journey.
“When the physio suggested the course, I didn’t hesitate. It addressed both of my key concerns: improving muscle strength and balance. I knew that without intervention, the risk of a fall was high,” Sidney shared.
Since joining the Stand Strong programme, Sidney’s experience has been overwhelmingly positive and he has shown high recognition of the course facilitator, for creating an inclusive and supportive environment.
“The coaches are fantastic. They are attentive to everyone’s individual needs, which makes the sessions comfortable and enjoyable. Their clear instructions and patient approach make a huge difference. I never feel pressured, and I genuinely look forward to each week’s session.”
Sidney is now an enthusiastic advocate for the Stand Strong programme, encouraging others in the community to take part.
“My walking has improved, my balance is better, and I can feel my muscles getting stronger with each session. Most importantly, my confidence when out and about has grown significantly. I no longer feel as vulnerable as I once did. This programme is a must for anyone at risk of falling or struggling with balance issues. It’s made a world of difference for me and I can’t recommend it enough.”
The Stand Strong programme is not just about physical improvement, it’s about restoring confidence, independence and quality of life.
