Two Cheshire East women are celebrating life‑changing improvements to their health, confidence and wellbeing after joining the Active Lives programme, supporting each other through every step, class and challenge.
What began as a shared hope to “move a little more” has now led to remarkable results: Pam has lost a stone and a half and created a weekly routine she loves, while Sheila is no longer on diabetic medication, crediting her improved fitness and diet with the change.
Both say they feel healthier, happier and more motivated than they have in years.
When One You Cheshire East transitioned to Everybody Health & Leisure, they were introduced to the Re-Shape and Active Lives programmes, and they decided to take the leap together.
Pam joined because she wanted to become more active, sharing openly that any weight‑loss would simply be “a bonus”. She completed both Re-Shape and Active Lives side‑by‑side, describing them as “brilliant, supportive and completely non‑judgemental.”
“There was no pressure, just encouragement. I’ve met so many lovely people and made real friends”
That supportive environment helped her build healthy habits that now feel like second nature. Pamela’s consistency has led to impressive progress:
- 1.5 stone lost since starting
- BMI reduced from 29.1 to 25.8
- New weekly fitness routine she genuinely looks forward to
Sheila completed the Active Lives programme and quickly noticed improvements to her energy, strength and overall wellbeing. Over the 12 weeks, she experienced significant changes, the most meaningful being that she is now off her diabetic medication, something she describes as “life-changing”.
She puts this down to the combination of increasing her activity and making sustainable adjustments to her diet.
“I feel so much better in myself. The classes made a huge difference and doing it with Pam kept me going.”
From their very first week, Pam and Sheila attended many of the same sessions, laughing, encouraging each other and pushing one another to try classes they never would have attempted alone.
They say doing the programme together helped them stay motivated and accountable, especially on the days when sticking to a routine felt tough.
Now, both women have joined as members to continue their journeys. They still attend classes together, still motivate one another, and still celebrate every milestone, big or small.
Pam and Sheila’s story is a reminder that positive lifestyle change doesn’t have to be overwhelming, especially when you have someone by your side. Their combined determination, paired with the supportive team at Everybody Health & Leisure, has helped them build confidence, community and long‑lasting healthy habits.
They hope their story encourages others to take the first step too.
