Improved strength, balance and confidence for Stand Strong Member Annetta

Annetta has experienced significant improvements in her strength, balance and confidence after taking part in our Stand Strong programme, following encouragement from a friend who had already seen physical benefits.

“I was recommended the service from a friend after she expressed the positive benefits physically. I thought it was worth having a go.” Annetta said.

When she started the Stand Strong programme, Annetta was hoping to address specific physical concerns. “I wanted to strengthen my knees after they were troubling me.” She explained. Although she initially felt her balance was good, the programme helped her reassess this. “I thought my balance was ok but now I’ve realised that it’s not as good as it should have been. I can now go up steps more confidently.”

Since taking part, Annetta has noticed clear physical improvements. “My ankles and legs feel stronger. My balance is a lot better which makes day to day tasks easier.”

She also highlighted a major personal milestone, adding, “I can now go upstairs without holding on.”

The positive changes have extended into her everyday life. “I now have more energy and I am more careful around things.”. Reflecting on life before the programme, she added, “Before completing the programme, I wouldn’t take notice and fall, whereas nowadays, I am more aware and careful.”

Annetta has found the sessions consistently enjoyable and motivating. “I can honestly say I enjoyed all of it,” she said. She has also built the exercises into her daily routine at home. “I always feel so good after the classes and after doing the exercises at home. I have a habit of doing the exercises at 4pm in the afternoon – if I don’t do it, I really miss it.”

She has been supported throughout by instructors Reece and Molly. “Reece was delivering the sessions when I started the programme. He is absolutely amazing. He really knows how to work us.” Since Christmas, Molly has led the sessions, and Annetta described her as “really good with us and very encouraging.” She also praised their approach, saying, “I really like how Reece and Molly treat us – they don’t treat us as if we’re old. They make us smile and we enjoy it so much.”

When speaking to others who may feel unsure about joining, Annetta is clear in her advice. “I would say it’s 100% worth going. Just try because it’s 100% worth it. You’ll feel so much better.” She has already recommended the programme to others, including her brother.

Annetta also highlighted the importance of the social side of the programme. “I think it’s very important to come out and experience the social side of things too. The social side is just as beneficial as the physical side.” Reflecting on her overall experience, she added, “I will keep recommending it to others because I think it’s brilliant.”
